Geospatial Technology

Amethyst Glass at a Historic Site
Geospatial technology has advanced to the point where having an array of equipment is essential in cultural resource management.  PTA recognizes that the precision in geo-referencing and relational capabilities increases efficiency and produces high quality data management.  Our geographic information systems (GIS) specialists can create detailed maps and graphics both in print and digital copies for a variety of projects.

PTA utilizes the most advanced geospatial equipment, including Trimble Recons with internal global positioning system (GPS) antennas that provide real-time accuracy of one to three meters with submeter post processing.  For high-accuracy GIS data collection and asset relocation, PTA uses Trimble GeoXH and Trimble Recon (with ProXH external) GPS units; both models provide real-time subfoot (30 cm) accuracy.

PTA’s use of geospatial technology has broadened our list of services we offer for cultural resource management. Through these advanced systems and technology, our other services and capabilities include:

  • Data Acquisition and Integration
  • Historic and site map digitization
  • Predictive Modeling
  • Spatial Analysis
  • Viewshed Analysis
